SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport baseball's Carlos Vega has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Week 12, the league office announced.
Vega powered the Pilots to a conference sweep of the University of the Southwest, delivering a big week at the plate. He hit .333 (4-for-12) with two doubles, one home run, and nine RBIs, including a .364 average and .818 slugging percentage in conference play. Vega drove in four runs in the series opener and added four more in the finale, highlighted by a home run.
Vega's production helped LSU Shreveport improve to 32-7 overall and 17-4 in RRAC play. The Pilots are currently ranked No. 4 in the NAIA and sit tied for first in the conference standings with Texas A&M–Victoria, which holds the tiebreaker following a series sweep last month.
LSUS will be back in action at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at Pilot Field as they welcome Texas Wesleyan University.
