LSUS TO HOST CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN ICONS JAN.20

LSU Shreveport invites the community to join us for a powerful morning of music, storytelling, and reflection honoring African-American icons on January 20th in the University Center Theatre.

This theatrical and musical performance will bring to life figures such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Zora Neale Hurston, Mahalia Jackson, and Paul Robeson, with performances by Mahogany Ensemble Theatre on the LSUS stage. The program will also feature poetry from Maya Angelou, music by legendary artists like Sam Cooke and Louis Armstrong performed by special guest Daniel Coleman, and inspirational words from members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Produced by the LSUS Office of Community Engagement, the program is designed to spark curiosity and conversation, encouraging audiences to consider their role in justice, purpose, and community
